• Speedy and effective screening test kit is the most critical response to curbing the spread of the novel coronavirus disease as well as accompany pandemic

• Computer-aided screening is capable of diagnosing COVID-19 from chest X-ray

• Associated challenges of developing and deploying deep learning models for the said screening includes: scanty dataset and high computational cost

• These are addressed by the development of a data and memory-efficient algorithms: the discriminative fine-tuning and mixed-precision training. This results in speedup in training time as well as improved accuracy and sensitivity.
